The Framing Contractor

The Framing Contractor was:

Cody Jennemann

8923 Moss Farm Rd.
Hillsboro, MO 63050

phone 314-280-6984

Cody Jenneman is a firefighter, and a former neighbor of William Matzker.

Mr. Matzker hired Cody to do the framing on my house.

The pictures you see below are of defective framing lumber that Cody Jennemann built into my house.

Photo 1. Badly knotted and cracked 2"X4" stud in Bathroom wall.

Photo 1-B. Badly cracked 2x4 wall stud which causes a bow in the bathroom wall.
This was put into my bathroom wall even though there were 91 good 2x4's
still in the garage that were there to to be used for framing.

Why?

These are just examples. There are other similarly defective studs throughout the house.

Where did this defective framing lumber come from?  I don’t know. Was it in the original lumber delivery that came from the Lumber Company? I don't think so. I tarped that lumber delivery myself. (Mr. Matzker refused to come do it, even though five days of rain was forecast.) I did not see any lumber in that delivery that looked anything like what ended up being built into my walls. In fact, that original delivery looked like excellent grade lumber to me.

Did someone else bring this defective lumber onto my property? I don't know, but considering that its defects are easily seen, I have to wonder why Cody used that defective lumber in the framing? Especially, when we had 91 GOOD 2"X 4" studs sitting in the garage, that later ended up being returned to the Lumber Company?  For why, you would have to ask Cody.

Since Mr. MatzKer was the one who hired Cody and was still acting as General Contractor on this job when Cody did the framing, did Cody ever ask him about using those defective studs?  If not, I wonder why not? If he did ask him, did Mr. Matzker tell him TO use those defective studs?

Why didn't I address these issues at the time? Because when I noticed what appeared to me to be defective studs, the plumbing had already been installed thru those studs and the Jefferson County Inspectors had passed everything. Since the Jefferson County Inspector had passed it, I assumed that the Inspector figured it wasn't going to cause any problems.

Also; I didn't realize that those defective studs could cause bows in the wall.
