What's New

THE TORNADO AND ITS AFTERMATH

In March of 2025, a tornado came through mid Jefferson County and did widespread damage. Many homes had both roofs and siding with wind and hail damage.

I had less damage than most of the people around me, so didn't look for a roofing and siding contractor right away. I thought: "Let the people with more damage go first."

In May, my neighbor across the street had her roof replaced. The company seemed to do a really good job, so I contacted them about my damage. I was told that the company had already done 600 houses and had 200 more scheduled, and that they would let me know when they could get with me about the repairs.

They contacted me in October and the crew came to do my roof on November 10th.

Because I had two old dogs, who I knew would be frightened by the noise, I took them and stayed down in the basement with them.

The roofing crew didn't finish until after dark, so I didn't see the roof until the next morning. ... When I first looked at the roof, there was a really odd looking area (about 8' x 8' to 10' x 10' ) that was "puffed up" above the other shingles.

Also: Several yard ornaments were strewn around the yard, so I called Casey's Exteriors and asked for someone to come talk to me.

The person who came was James, the Casey's grandson. By the time he got here, the yard ornaments had been put back in place, but there was some damaged.

I talked to James about the odd "puffed up" place on the roof. He assured me that the "puffiness" would go away within a few days, after the sun had been shining on it. ... While the "puffiness" did go down, those shingles have always looked a little bit different to me. They had/have sort of "wavy" edges.

MY EXPERIENCE AT CASEY EXTERIORS

Shortly after the new roof was installed on my house in November of 2025, I went over to Casey's Exteriors in Arnold, to talk to them about some problems with the roof installation.

When I asked to speak to Mr. Casey, Mrs. Sarah Casey came out of the back room and loudly said: “NO! You cannot talk to my husband! He has been in the hospital from almost having a heart attack and IT IS YOUR FAULT!!"

I said: “What are you talking about?" She said: “He is afraid that you will put him in that book of yours!”

The book she was talking about was a history of a house that I had built in 2017-2020.  … Since she was so agitated, I just left and waited a few weeks before I went back.

When I went back, I had tried to talk to Mrs. Sarah Casey, but she kept interrupting me, cutting me off, and talking over me. She was very aggressive.

I finally just turned around and left.

Since I had no success with trying to talk to anyone there, I went home and wrote out what had happened to my property. I went back the next day and did not attempt to talk to anyone. I simply dropped off a copy of what I had written and asked the Lady at the front desk to give it to Mr. Casey.

I returned to my car and prepared to leave. Before I had even managed to get my car started, Sarah Casey came running out of their office and grabbed my car door handle and yanked my car door open!  Since she had not even had time to read anything that I had written, so her actions shocked me.

After yanking my car door open, she stuck her head into the door opening and started yelling; she was extremely agitated. At about that moment her husband arrived at her side and started yelling a string of Profanity. Then a young man exited the office and went to the front of my car, shaking his fist at me. ... There was absolutely NO reason or excuse for any of that!!! … I had not said a single word to any of them. I had simply dropped off some paperwork.

At that point Mrs. Casey stepped back and violently slammed my car door shut, hitting the side of my left leg with the car door. ...  I said: “You just hit me with the car door!" She said: “I did not!” As soon as they all stepped back from around my car, I drove out of the parking lot and left.

I was 86 years old at the time of their assault, and the violence of their actions was seriously frightening. Again, I did absolutely nothing to bring on this assault!

Shortly after I arrived home, a uniformed Jefferson County Sheriffs Office Deputy came to my door. He asked me if I was OK and I said … "Yes, but why are you here?"

He said that an Arnold Police Officer had requested a Welfare Check for me. ... I have no idea who requested that. ... The officer stayed and talked to me for a while. He was actually concerned for me. Thankfully, he was a very pleasant young man and seemed genuinely concerned.

When the car door hit my leg, it was painful, but I didn't think too much of it. I figured it was "just a bump." However, the area ended up bruised and it stayed swollen and painful for weeks afterward.

I had started seeing a Chiropractor for another issue. When he was doing a general exam, he asked me if I knew that the Fibula in my Left leg was displaced. I told him No. I was sort of surprised to hear that, but then I realized that was why it was still painful!

There was absolutely no reason, or excuse, for the amount of violence these people used on a 86 year old person, who had not said a single word to any of them!

I believe that their actions constitute all of the following and perhaps even more.

Physical assault, Verbal assault and Elder Abuse.
